Lantern: Coaching
A coached experience for users, and the complimentary experience for coaches
Because we dealt with a clinical population, we hired experienced coaches. As the sole designer in the beginning, I was responsible for creating the user experience of coaching in the app, and also the tools that coaches used to effectively and efficiently interact with users.
My Role
Sole product designer for initial designs, later led the design team.
Goals
- For users, our goal was to increase app engagement, and lower anxiety (GAD-7).
- For coaches, our goals were to allow coaches to interact with as many users as possible, while maintaining quality of interactions.
Coaching in App
We wanted users to feel supported by their coach, and also feel that they could leverage their coach to help with the content in the app. Thus, we wanted the coach photo to be a constant part of the experience.
Coach Portal
We created our own coaching tool from the beginning, as we wanted control over what information could be displayed, and we knew coach messaging needed medical level data security.
Safety Protocols
As the user base of Lantern got bigger, and the population of users targeted became more clinical, we needed to implement certain safety measures. This is a mockup of safety protocols in the coach portal that coaches could use, along with how they were displayed on the user profile.
